Membership service provided by UCAZ include:
UCAZ from time to time organises skills training for key personnel in member councils. UCAZ also sources funding for programmes that build the capacity of its members in the provision of services or in the area of governance. For example the programmes Strengthening Transnational Partnerships and Networks for Enhancing Participatory local governance, the Enhancing City Diplomacy and Decentralised Cooperation in Zimbabwe, just to name a few, are examples of projects that enhanced the capacity of the selected local authorities to improve dialogue and cooperation with their communities.
Other programmes have focused on hardware such as rehabilitation of water, sanitation and hygiene infrastructure.
UCAZ, in liaison with relevant government departments provides coordination for national programmes such as the Service Level Benchmarking whereby local authorities carry out peer reviews among themselves in selected areas of service delivery to assess the quality of services being provided to citizens.
The Association also coordinates meetings of the Annual General Meeting, the Executive and Presidential committees of UCAZ as well as any other meetings called by government departments that relate with local authorities.
Investment promotion for local authorities
UCAZ has established the Local Government Investment Conference (LOGIC) on the annual calendar to promote investment and trade by both local and foreign investors and companies. Participants are drawn from all urban local authorities in Zimbabwe and abroad, local, regional and international companies, tertiary institution, development partners, sister associations and government departments.
LOGIC also features exhibitions by local authorities showcasing what is on offer for potential investors, and exhibitions by providers of goods and services to local authorities.
